Erica’s Cherry Pecan Dump Cake
The humble dump cake is one of the easiest possible desserts to make. Even if you love to bake sometimes easy is nice. All the ingredients that you actually need are just 2 cans of any fruit pie filling, a box of yellow cake mix, and a stick of butter. You literally just dump all your ingredients together and bake. Very little clean-up, little work, and yet yummy! Dump cake can even be made in a crock pot by cooking it on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. My husband loves cherries so here is my version of Cherry Pecan Dump Cake.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract (divided)
- 2 (21 ounces) cans of Cherry Pie Filling
- 15 ¼ ounces box of Yellow Cake Mix
- ½ cup Salted Butter (1 stick, either sliced or melted)
- 1 cup of pecans
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Stir 1/2 tsp almond extract into each can of pie filling and stir.
- Pour both cans of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle dry cake mix over the pie filling. Do not mix with filling.
- Slowly pour melted butter all over the top of the cake mix. Or, place slices of the butter evenly over the dry cake mix.
- Sprinkle top with pecans.
- Bake for 50 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
I recommend you serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
