Each referrer will receive a $10 gift card unless an individual meets the $100 cap set by the WA OIC.  A matching $20 donation was made for each referral, totaling $210 to Northwest Harvest.  This brings the total donated to Northwest Harvest for August & September to $530.  Northwest Harvest distributes food to more than 350 food banks, meal programs, and schools across Washington.

Hunger often happens when people are forced to make choices between eating and other essential needs like rent or medicine.  We choose to support Northwest Harvest during the summer months because childhood hunger is a significant issue that affects millions of children, particularly during the summer when school meal services are unavailable. It is estimated that 22 million children experience food insecurity during the summer each year.

Our September Charity of the Month will be Serenity Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation. Serenity Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation is a rescue and sanctuary program specializing in equine rescue, rehabilitation, education, and healing. It has been registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and a Washington State Charitable Organization since February 2008. At Serenity, neglected or abused horses receive quality veterinary care, are socialized, and given essential training in preparation for adoption.
