Solution to the August Riddle “A hill is a mile up and a mile down. If you drive up the hill going 30 miles per hour, then how fast must you drive down the hill to average 60 miles per hour for the whole hill?“: It is impossible because you cannot come down the hill in zero time. Going up one mile at 30 miles per hour takes 2 minutes. To average 60 miles per hour for 2 miles you must do the entire 2 miles in 2 minutes. But you have used up all the time going up the hill. Therefore, you would have to come down in nothing flat, which is currently an impossible feat.
