Honey Mustard Glazed Turkey Meatloaf Recipe
This is a delicious and healthier alternative to ground beef meatloaf.
Ingredients
Meatloaf:
- 2 large eggs
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon mustard
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 Tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon ground garlic powder
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1 apple peeled and shredded
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 box of Stove Top Stuffing. Or you could substitute either 1- cup of breadcrumbs, or quick oats (Note: If you are not using Stovetop stuffing then I recommend adding some more herbs and seasonings such as thyme, rosemary, marjoram, parsley, and possibly another ½ teaspoon of salt.)
Sauce/Glaze:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 Tablespoon yellow Mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Lightly grease a standard-size 9 x 5 loaf pan with cooking spray. You can also line a rimmed baking sheet, with paper.
- Add all the wet meatloaf ingredients to a large bowl.
- Next add herbs, seasonings, and dry Stovetop stuffing or breadcrumbs
- Next mix in onion and apple
- Then gently mix in meat (without overworking the meat). Add the meat mixture to a loaf pan and gently pat it into an even layer. Or, simply mound it into a loaf shape and place it on the baking sheet
- Bake for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, make the meatloaf sauce by combining all ingredients in a bowl.
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread sauce on top. Return to oven for 30 minutes more or until cooked through.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
