Each of the referrers will receive a $10 gift card. The total we donated to Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington Was $380.00.  Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington grants “life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.” Currently, more than 600 children are waiting for wishes – the longest waitlist the chapter has ever had.  This chapter anticipates being able to grant 405 wishes this year to create hope.

Our charity for February is Sound Generations (Meals on Wheels). There are many circumstances that can make shopping or preparing food difficult for older adults leading to food insecurity.  Meals on Wheels offers “relief to older adults and caregivers by delivering reliable, nutritious meals on a weekly basis.” This charity is near and dear to Erica’s heart.  She volunteers as a caller several Wednesday mornings each month at the Renton Meals on Wheels location.

Sound Generations “is the largest provider of comprehensive services for aging adults and their loved ones in King County. We connect older adults and adults with disabilities to vital resources in their communities by providing food security, transportation, health and wellness, and assistance services.”

As of December, Meals On Wheels in King County was confronted with a waitlist of over 900 people who needed assistance. Despite their waitlist, they were able to deliver over half a million meals to over 2,000 participants last year.
